Lowville Academy Rises Above Adversity with Unwavering Spirit
In the late hours of July 10, 2024, our beloved school, like many of our community members' homes, experienced unexpected flooding due to the heavy rains. While this event has presented significant challenges, the heartwarming response from our students, staff, and community members is a testament to our collective resilience and spirit. The flooding affected several areas of the school, including classrooms, gymnasium, cafeterias, and outdoor facilities.
In the face of this adversity, the response from our community has been nothing short of extraordinary. Community members, including our faculty and staff, have offered to come together to assist in the cleanup and recovery efforts. I am incredibly moved by the outpouring of support we've received. This experience has truly shown us the strength and unity of our community. Our school is more than just a building; it's a family. And together, we will rebuild stronger than ever.
The District is working closely with local authorities and experts to ensure that the restoration is swift and thorough, aiming to have programs return as soon as possible. We intend to have our summer school and Super Stage programs back in attendance after the weekend because those areas sustained minimal damages.
As we move forward, we will continue to provide updates on the progress of our recovery efforts. Together, we will rise above this challenge and emerge stronger, united by our shared commitment to the future of our children and the well-being of our community.
