Memo from the Health Office: Physicals & Medications

Posted Date: 7/14/25 (1:49 PM)

In preparation for the 2025-2026 School Year:

Physical Exams:
New York law requires students in Pre-K, Kindergarten, 1st , 3rd and 5th grade, as well as new students to the district, to have a physical on file for school attendance. In preparing for upcoming school year, now is the perfect time to get those scheduled with your Primary care provider. For next year, the accepted date range includes anything on or after September 3rd 2024. Any new physicals obtained over the summer can either be dropped off to the main office or faxed to 315-376-9021. Students that lack a physical at the beginning of the school year, will be contacted by the Nurse’s office.

Medications in School – Reminder
Any child who needs to take medication during school hours must have a written request from the prescriber stating that the medication is to be given in school, as well as the time and the dosage to be given. This requirement includes all medications – those given daily and as needed, and all over-the-counter medications including cough drops, Tylenol, etc. No medication should be brought to school by students, instead it must be delivered by a parent/guardian. All medication orders must be renewed annually.
